Effectively coordinated the Round Table Discussion by Idexx and Arachem, focusing on "The Verdict is in the Retic: Why They Are More Important Than Just Classifying Anaemia." The event took place in Johor Bahru in May 2024 and Kuala Lumpur in June 2024. The talk aimed to deepen veterinarians' understanding of the full value of reading reticulocytes in a CBC report and how they can be used to differentiate types of anaemia. Participants engaged with real case studies highlighting the importance of this discussion.
Dr. Lee Yee Lin, BSc BVMS (Murdoch), led the talk. Throughout the discussion, Dr. Lee emphasized the medical advantages and disadvantages, as well as exceptions where reticulocytes may not be equally reflective of the severity of anemia. Additionally, she stressed the importance of classifying anaemia, as blood analysis allows us to identify problems and generate a list of possible causes, if not provide a diagnosis outright.
